30 Minute Daily Breakdown

- What is anxiety and why have I got it? The science you need to understand worry, anxiety, stress and panic
- How to measure anxiety and regulate your emotions so you can plan what to do when you feel panicked
- Investigate your anxiety, your fears & negative thought patterns to understand how the mind works and empower you to make changes
- Manage your anxiety with cool coping skills so you are prepared every time you feel those worries coming
- Flip those negative thoughts and create an action plan for success so you can start planning fun adventures in the future.
So, let’s summarise what we’ve covered in this 5 day challenge:
- Weve explored the science behind anxiety and The Stress Response - we found out exactly what happens and how to explain this to children so they understand why their body is reacting the way it does when they get worried, anxious or stressed.
- We know the dif_ference between: Worry, Anxiety, Stress & Panic Attacks
- We know how to measure the severity of children’s worry and anxiety levels using child-friendly subjective measurement scales.
- We discussed why children get anxious and how to investigate their triggers
- We investigated where children experience anxiety and stress in the body - therefore making it easier to break down the path of anxiety and navigate how to manage it.
- Finally, we explored different ways to manage anxiety using child-friendly language, solution-focused approaches and evidence-based applied positive psychology interventions - we know what interventions are too!
- Remember, we talked about how there are dif_ferent strokes for dif_ferent folks: for example, if your child is a logical, scientif_ic thinker who likes to understand the reason behind things - then stick to the mechanics of the body. Talk about the path of anxiety, the chemicals that are released and keep it factual and informative. If your child is kinesthetic and needs to experience sensations in the body, get them to do some jumping jacks to use up the stored adrenaline, followed by some calming breaths, using the belly breath technique or the star breathing
- If your child enjoys stillness and calm then introduce some mindfulness and meditation into their day - get them slowing down and distracting their thoughts with gratitudes
- And finally.... We reinforced that your child is in control of their thoughts and actions.
